FatBike Islay, part of Kayak Wild Islay
Fatbike tour information
Why fatbikes? Fatbikes allow visitors an exciting way of exploring and experiencing the coast with access to beaches or tracks looking for wildlife, expolring Islay's natural wonders and historical sites. Due to their 4 inch balloon tyres Fatbikes are particularly ideal for beach riding where they can float over the sand and pebbles giving wonderful access to this amazing environment and 5+ miles of sandy beach is great fun. Also included I still offer the Flapjack and hot drink along the way!
Not only that they are amazing fun, simple to ride and no heavier than any normal bike but can take you so much further!
- The big strand beach (from the base or from the airport) - flat once on the beach!
- The Three Distilleries pathway (with otter tracking along the route) - some small hills
- Kintra hill track past ruined Frachdale village returning through a forest (chance of sighting deer) - moderately hilly
- Kilnaughton to Port-an-Eas waterfall - hilly
- Kintra hill track out to Soliders rock via numerous ruined villages - hilly and rougher track for the more experienced
