Sea Kayaking Information

Join us for a sea kayaking trip along the coast of Islay exploring the delights along the way.

Half day tours start either at 9;30/10am or 2pm and last about 3 hours
Full days start at 9;30/10am until about 5pm
Either option can start at 10am especially on Sundays! Later starts can be arranged.
We suggest a maximum group of 5 or 6 for direct booking.
To book more please contact us as it requires a second guide.
We meet up opposite the Ramsay Hall in Port Ellen - see map, unless the weather suggests a better starting point.
Once you are kitted up a short safety brief is given including how to get the best from the kayak and the paddle.
We aim to paddle for about 1 hour before stopping for a homemade piece of flapjack and a hot drink before returning.
What you get;
  • Wetsuit or dry trousers
  • Paddling Jacket
  • Bouyancy aid, spraydeck and paddle - left-handed ones are available
  • Pogies or mitts to keep your hands toasty warm!
  • Qualified guide - I will be your tour guide and will show you the best bits and take lots of photos!
  • Oh nearly forgot, a kayak! - we have 2 kid-sized kayaks and 1 double kayak.
  • Both options of kayaks allow 8 year olds and upwards to join in although we suggest 12 and upwards is best.
What do you need;
  • Leggings or shorts
  • Trainers, sandals or wetshoes (not flipflops), anything you dont mind getting wet.
  • Thermal top or fleece
  • Extra layer - a drybag is avialable
  • Hat or sunhat - yes it can get sunny even in Islay!
  • Sunglasses and if you prefer your own, suntan lotion
  • Waterproof camera - only if you have one, dont worry the guide will have one and the photos are included as a memory of your trip
 For a Full day tour you are out all day, you might want to consider having a lunch picnic style provided at just £8 each.  Typical options include a choice of meat and cheeses to fill you wraps with, salad (homegrown when available), fruit and snacks. Sorry we have stopped providing lunch during Covid.
Of course you can bring your own lunch and we will be happy to help you store it in the kayaks.

Group sizes can be more than 6 by arrangement as I need an extra guide to accompany us for safety reasons.
